Having a new baby in the house doesn't leave me much time for updating with words but I did edit a few pictures for ya. Alex is doing great. He's a really contented baby so far. He's alert and just taking it all in.
I am tired. I hardly slept at all at the hospital so I decided to come home early. I was getting tired of having nurses come in and waking us up all the time. I could not sleep in the hospital. I've never had that problem before but this time it was pretty bad. I think from the time I checked in at 6:30 on Saturday night until I came home about 2 this afternoon I had gotten about 5 hours of sleep. Maybe 6. I've already gotten in a couple hours since coming home and I slept well, so I'm happy with the choice to come home. And Dick and Terri took the girls for the next two nights which I wasn't expecting, so I'm a very happy camper. We are just enjoying bonding with Alex right now.
The girls think he's just too sweet (which he is). Marah keeps saying "Aw mom, he's so cute!" They are both in awe of the breastfeeding and Jenna thinks it's funny. Jenna also does not like the poopy diapers or his umbilical cord stump. She said they make her nervous.
Alex was born at 11:59 am on Sunday, September 21. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 3 oz. and was 20 inches long. My labor was pretty easy for the most part. I had an epidural at about 9:30 and two hours later was ready to push. Got him out in 4 contractions so yeah, I pretty much rock. :)
We couldn't figure out who he looked like when we were in the hospital. But today his features started changing and now I've decided he definitely looks like Jenna as a newborn. Except he has lighter hair. Isn't he sweet?
Aw, Marah's right, he is cute! Great photos. You look fantastic, Ashley. I'm so happy for you all. What a beautiful family.

ReplyDeleteHe's so beautiful! You've almost given me baby fever over here....well, not quite. I'm still quite selfish and want to keep my uterus to myself for the next few years. ;)
